Today I would like to talk to you about a passion, an obsession of mine.
You are probably well aware I am a fan of Marmite Sue’s work, especially of her fantastic art dolls. About a year ago, through a contest, a bit of luck, and the artist’s big heart, I was able to win such an Angel Egg Doll cast in resin after following her work for a very long time. And since then my infatuation has only grown greater.
The original Porcelain Parfaits of Perfection I fell so deeply in love with have since been translated masterfully into resin. I feel Marmite Sue’s style has become more refined and exquisite over the past year, making each doll a burst of never-before-seen whimsical and dream-like creativity. I still rush to my computer every day and visit her website first to see if she has shared pictures of a new masterpiece with us.
At the pinnacle of her creations stands Dentelle - the perfect doll incorporating grace, delicacy and unparalleled artistry. It is still one of my heart’s most burning desires to call one my own. The Dentelle body is even more beautiful to me than she ever was before; the daring lace cutting and embellishment brimming with delicious details, the sweet ribbons twining the doll’s shimmering skin, the expressive hands, the high heeled feet and the many new beatific faces the artist has created heightened only by the magnificent way the dolls are painted. They are now also adorned with tiny jewels and crowns and shoes, casting an air of reminding me of the courts of Marie Antoinette or a very exclusive circus. They look alive in so many ways, speaking an ethereal language of yearning and allure.
I have learned that no other doll compares to her work, whether in terms of aesthetics or imagination, nor in posing or quality. Marmite Sue is my favorite doll maker, Dentelle my favorite doll.
Visit Marmite Sue at her website, the Resin Menagerie, her facebook and her twitter. I invite you to embark with me on the journey of love and admiration for these one-of-a-kind dolls and for Dentelle.
